Castlereagh Macquarie County Council

Our mission is to provide effective integrated weed management systems utilizing the latest technology to all Constituent councils fairly and equitably in accordance with the Noxious Weeds Act 1993

The Castlereagh Macquarie County Council was formed in 1949 by the Walgett and Coonamble Shire Councils to control Galvanised burr. Over years the membership of the county council has expanded to include Warren, Gilgandra and Warrumbungle shire councils in addition to Walgett and Coonamble .

The councils realised that there are a number of important weeds common to all council areas and it is more efficient to control these via one control authority instead of having 5 individual control authorities looking after their own area.
