African Box Thorn is a tall erect thorny perennial shrub, often impenetrable in thickets. Its branches are stout, sometimes drooping and end in a strong sharp spine. Flowers are cream streaked with lilac in colour . Berries are small, bright orange, succulent and globular. The bushes harbour vermin such as rabbits and the berries are host for fruit fly and other insects
