Biological Control Agents
In some situations There are biological control agents available to control some noxious weeds. Such control may involve the release of mycoherbicides or insects that are target specific to the weed concerned. Mycoherbicides are not self sustaining and have a short active period.
However there are insects which may be used as biological control agents which attack specific weeds and reduce the population to acceptable levels. These insects rely on some of the weed remaining in order for them to survive.
The county council has access to a number of biological control agents for a small number of specific weeds. Please contact the county council for further information
